Serbs March for Pride In Face of Nazis

10/10/2021

Hundreds of ordinary Serbians joined the annual LGBTQIA Pride parade in Belgrade on September 18th, according to a report from the dissident broadcasting station Radio Free Europe. Participants held banners with slogans such as "Love is a law," referring to their demand that Serbia allow the registration of same-sex unions. This year, the march was not joined by Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, who is openly gay, and participated in previoous events. However, just like previous marches, the police cordoned off far-right protesters who were burning the rainbow flag.
