Ireland’s Trans and Intersex Pride event took place on 17th July and saw around two thousand people march through Dublin City Centre. Pink News reported that the march saw a high degree of social solidarity with the whole of the LGBTQIA community, with groups such as the Lesbian Line switchboard having a contingent, and political organisations including the anti-capitalist left, Amnesty International and Sinn Fein being represented on the diverse demonstration. Placards and chants included one critical of the Irish Public broadcaster RTE, which has fallen out of favour after platforming anti-trans feminist extremists even though these people constitute a tiny minority of public opinion. The Dublin Pride organisation has already severed coverage rights with RTE in protest at this. As Ireland celebrated Traveller Pride Week, Mary McDonagh of the National Action Group for LGBT+ Traveller and Roma Rights spoke on the need to protect young queer members of the communities. Gay Community News in Dublin added that Olive Wilson from Intersex Ireland, spoke passionately about the pressures put on parents of intersex babies by the gender establishment, sometimes with the connivance of the medical profession. “Despite making up almost 2% of births, the fearmongering and misinformation surrounding Intersex people mean they are more than often forced into the rigid boxes of male and female, with countless instances of their medical histories hidden from them or entirely destroyed, resulting in many Intersex people not knowing about their identities until adolescence or adulthood”, Olive remarked.
