Radio France Info, the public service news channel in the Republic of France, remarks on the current divided state after two rounds of elections to the National Legislature. President Macron has asked the country's first gay Prime Minister, Gabriel Attal, to remain as de facto head of the government for the time being, the sake of maintaining stability ahead of the Paris Olympic Games this summer. In a surprise moment of unity and solidarity the left bloc of parties won the election to become the largest voting bloc in a hung Parliament. The centrists came second and the far right National Rally was beaten back into third place, after a lot of fear that France could follow Italy in ending up under the yoke of extremism. TF1 News on French Television provided the following breakdown of parties represented in the new French Parliament. The New Popular Front, consisting of the Parti Socialiste, Ecology Party, Communist Party and La France Insoumise have 182 seats. The rest of the French leftist parties have 16 seats. Ensemble, the pro-Marcon centrist group have 168 seats, Other centre right groups have 76 seats. And the far right National Rally have 143 seats with other far right allies. There are around 10 independent members of the Parliament.
