First Gay Woman to Come Out in French Govt

In European news, LGBTQIA newswire Pink News reports that French Minister for Education and Youth, Sarah El Haïry, has come out as gay, making her the first gay woman to serve in the French government.  Sarah represents a small progressive party called the “Democratic Movement”.  Pink News notes that the current coalition government of Emmanuel Macron is supportive of LGBTQIA freedom, but that the strength of the far right in France remains a problem.
