AllOut, the international lobbying human rights organisation, reveals that on June 28th, the fifty sixth anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, Pride brought downtown Budapest to a halt, safely and securely, and allowed the LGBTQIA+ communities of Hungary to demonstrate for their right to exist and live their lives freely. Yuri and Matt, blogging directly from the march, said "giant crowds of people bravely defied the government's Pride ban and walked down the streets of Budapest, making it the biggest Pride march the city has ever seen. Many of us didn't think this day would come. For months now, we've been working alongside local activists to fight the ban. We've encountered challenge after challenge – from police threats, to hate groups, and silence from some government leaders. But this is proof that people power CAN prevail. We petitioned European leaders. We projected messages of defiance onto a huge building in downtown Budapest. We channeled tens of thousands of voices into a powerful show of solidarity." https://campaigns.allout.org/pride-2025/
