Police in Banja Luka, a city in northwestern Bosnia-Herzegovina, has prohibited an LGBT pride event, citing what it said were security concerns, reports Radio Free Europe, a pan European dissident broadcaster which beams free speech programming into countries where the media is controlled by the state. A member of the Pride committee told Radio Free Europe’s Balkan Service that it was disappointed with the decision. The Balkan service also carried pictures of sour faced fascist women carrying homophobic placards and noted that Eastern Europe has a particular issue with neo-Nazism, religious extremism and state sponsored brutality against many groups.
