Sky Arts Channel Celebrates Women Who Rock

28/03/2023

The Sky Arts Channel has celebrated International Women’s Day in style by transmitting an acclaimed documentary series on “Women Who Rock”.  With contributions from across the pop and rock spectrum, including Cindi from the B-52s and the Riot Grrll punk band Bikini Kill, the series celebrates trailblazers such as Janis Joplin, folk rock singers like Joni Mitchell, and punk rock feminists like Poly Styrene of X-Ray Specs, all of whom opened out the rock music scene for later groups and artists.  Today, women’s rock and pop music is a major genre in its own right, and festivals, zines and podcasts celebrate the contribution to music by women.
