Both Pink News and Gay Times are amongst those media outlets sending their warmest wishes to another new source of LGBT programming, as Belfast’s Juice FM switches on its FM transmitter to make tests before its full schedule starts on Saturday 4th August. The new community radio service for the city has been several years in the planning, and has thanked all its supporters for their kindness and hard work as preparations have been made for the launch. Juice will be the first dedicated all gay and trans station anywhere in Ireland, either North or South of the border, although other operations have previously offered some gay programming, such as the Dublin based pirate station Radio Active in the middle nineties. If you’re in the Greater Belfast area, you can hear the station on 103.8 FM. Or it will be streamed online 24 hours a day.
