Daniel Reynolds writes at Q Voice News that a life story of the career of gay neurologist Doctor Oliver Sacks is coming to NBC Television in the US later this year. Starring gay hero Zachary Qunto, and produced by gay show runner Greg Berlanti, it's to be a exciting and moving exploration of the late Doctor Sachs and is committed humanity for his patients, with whom he explores neurology, mood, emotional wellbeing and mental illness. The creator of the dramatised tale of Doctor Sachs' life was Michael Grassi. “I fell in love with Oliver Sacks,” Grassi attests. “I fell in love with his writing, his cases, his life. And I very quickly went from, I don’t know about this, to, I have to do this, and it became a priority and a passion project.” The new series airs on 28th September. Grassi also revered a more revolutionary aspect of Sacks, which was “his ability to take these conditions that were maybe scary, or no one had really talked about before, and tell stories about them and make it about the person instead of the condition. And the way he humanized medicine sort of made me feel like, well, this is something we can do on television as well.” The full interview and details of the programme are contained in the latest edition of QVoiceNews.
