Gay DJ Hero Scott Takes on Network Radio Job

25/08/2022

Gay radio DJ Scott Mills has spoken to celebrity magazine OK! About his imminent move across from BBC Radio One to BBC Radio Two, where he will take over from outgoing afternoon presenter Steve Wright, who has hosted the network’s flagship mid afternoon programme since 1998. Radio Two is the single most listened to radio network in the UK, and although Scott is used to broadcasting to an audience of several million on BBC Radio 1, his new posting has given him some jangly nerves. “I used to listen to him on the radio after school when my mum would be driving me home. He's such an incredible broadcaster. He's just your friend! I've got the big shoes to fill," Scott said. "The biggest! If you'd told me when I was 10-years-old, listening to Steve's show in the car, that I'd be taking over his job, I absolutely would never have believed you”. Steve Wright will remain with BBC Radio Two for some weekend programmes.
