Kind gay man and reluctant celebrity John Whaite whose life story, "Dancing on Eggshells" is out now and available from your local independent or LGBTQIA bookstore, has told ITV's mid morning show that he will be rooting for television legend Angela Rippon on this year's "Strictly Come Dancing", which starts this Autumn on BBC-1 Television. Mister Whaite was a contestant in 2021, and despite receiving hate mail from the usual right wing extremist rent-a-gobs, he shone with his same sex dance partner Johannes throughout the season. Mr Whaite said that it was high time an older woman won the contest. Centre Left newspaper the Daily Mirror said "At 79, Rippon will be the oldest competitor that the BBC show has ever seen. Despite this, she is eager to take on the challenge. She expressed her enthusiasm, saying: "Having been a fan of Strictly since day one, and as a former presenter of Come Dancing, this will be quite an adventure for me. A scary one, considering Im about to be 79. But Im really looking forward to the challenge, and perhaps being able to learn to dance the Argentinian Tango!!""
