Capital Radio Marks 50 - DJ is Out & Proud

07/11/2023

The Daily Mirror reports that Will Njobvu, a presenter on the national pop music network Capital Radio, has revealed that he made two attempts at suicide before accepting himself fully as a black gay man working in the media. He made his remarks on the eve of Capital Radio's fiftieth anniversary.  Will first came out in 2019, but received homophobic abuse from internet trolls even before his announcement.  He says that the journey to self acceptance took a while.  He now says "Living my truth is honestly the best type of freedom that I've ever experienced in my whole life. It's the best type of happiness I've ever experienced in my whole life."
