Now, we know that many of our listeners at ShoutOut spend their mornings with the various community stations that make up our little network of broadcasters. Some, do however, like to tune to commercial radio at breakfast time, and in this competitive market, a duo of a "gay and a nongay" are James Barr and Dan Hudson on HITS Radio a national network in the UK. "A Gay and a Non Gay" is the title James and Dan gave to their podcast, and now its scored big internationally. Media website RCS reports that "James Barr and Dan Hudson have won a Webby Award for their podcast... This is the podcast’s first win in a major international awards ceremony – at the 2025 Webby Awards in New York City. Hits Radio Breakfast Show co-host James and Dan picked up the People’s Voice trophy in the category of Best Independent Podcast. Launched in 2015, A Gay and A NonGay has established itself as a podcast for LGBTQ+ people and their friends, breaking down barriers between gays and nongays across over 400 episodes. In that time, they have appeared on the front cover of Attitude magazine, released a BBC TV documentary Sashay To Hell and launched their own brand of LGBTQIPA beer, which raises money for trans charity Mermaids. James and Dan said: “We don’t agree on a lot, but one thing we can both agree on is how delighted we are to win a Webby Award. This is absolutely huge!”
