LGBTQIA+ music fans were given a treat on Saturday night, 15th June, when BBC 2 Television will spend two hours celebrating Pride from the archives. First of all, at 10.40pm, was LGBTQ+ Hits at the BBC featuring archive performances by George Michael, Boy George, Freddie Mercury, Beth Ditto, MNEK, Lil Nas X and Barry Manilow. The Radio Times said "Some pushed boundaries and challenged gender stereotypes from the very start, while others only revealed their true selves after years of success and speculation, but all have played their part in changing the world of popular music". Then, at 11.40pm, was Pride Hits at the BBC, with performances from Kylie Minogue, Elton John, Lady Gaga, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Dolly Parton and Dusty Springfield, and featuring tracks such as Relax, Smalltown Boy, Born This Way, I Will Survive and Glad to Be Gay. Well done to BBC 2 for scheduling a night of Pride themed entertainment and uplifting music.
