LGBTQIA People and science fiction and fantasy have a long history together, and you only need to visit Bristol's independent comic shop Excelsior on Bond Street, not far from Prowler Gay Shop, to see queer comic genius for sale. On television, one of the community's most beloved serials, Doctor Who, returns on Hallowe'en night, Sunday 31st October. Jodie Whittaker's first female incarnation of the Doctor is coming to the end of her tenure. After this series, three specials will mark the BBC's One Hundredth Anniversary in 2022, and then the Doctor will regenerate into a fourteenth on screen incarnation. The new series is six episodes long and all six make up a long saga type story. Doctor Who fan Terry said “It's great to see Who back on the air on Autumn evenings. Brings back memories of the Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy years, when Who would be an essential part of the run up to Christmas”.
