There was a time, within living memory, that not only were gay and trans people not welcome in the security services, but that LGBT groups were subject to surveillance by the secret state. That began to change under the government of John Major and today the security services see gay and trans workers as a positive asset. The Sunday Times reports this week that one of GCHQ's analysts is undergoing gender affirmation therapy. She has been given the support of the agency who in fact have asked her if they can feature her story on their website.
