PBS America Marks Holocaust Memorial Day

19/01/2021

As we have previously reported, Holocaust Memorial Day is rapidly approaching: a chance to remember and reflect on those mudered by extremist regimes from the Nazis to Serbian militia over the last century. For LGBTQ people, it is salutary to recall that all genocidal regimes have been fanatically heterosexual supremacist, with no exceptions. Therefore, our struggle for freedom necessitates opposing despotism wherever it occurs and indeed, LGBTQ people have been highly active in resistance movements the world over throughout the last few centuries. If you are at home on Holocaust Memorial Day itself, Wednesday 27th January, then why not join PBS America Channel on freeview, freesat and most cable packages. The station will be airing a unique documentary called “Touched By Auschwitz”. Commemorating the minorities, particularly Jews and Gypsy peoples, who were killed by the Nazi regime at its most horrific death camp, the programme learns the lessons of the murders and even finds people whose faith in humanity has survived and endured. Tune in at 7.15pm on 27th January.
