Gay TV Judge Lays Into 'Anti-Vaxx' Footballer

09/09/2020

The Jewish Chronicle newspaper reports that Jewish gay hero Robert Rinder, the star of ITV’s hit programme “Judge Rinder” has put a conspiracy supporter and “anti-vaxxer” in their place for sharing a bizarre tweet which compared making people wear facemasks to slow Coronavirus to the politics of fascist Germany in the war year.  They said that former football pundit Matt Le Tissier has caused outrage after sharing an image on social media appearing to compare the Holocaust to wearing masks during the coronavirus pandemic.  Mr Le Tissier was recently dropped by the Sky Sports Channel for reasons not related.  The former England star, used his Twitter account to share an image of Anne Frank with the words: “The people who hid Anne Frank were breaking the law. The people who killed her were following it.”   He appeared to post the image in response to a video showing a police officer challenging a member of the public on a train about the failure to wear a protective mask.   Television presenter  Robert Rinder, who lost family members in the holocaust perpetrated by the anti-semitic and homophobic Nazi regime in the Second World War, was among those to criticise Mr Le Tissier, writing: ”I'd say more about how painfully insensitive this is but sometimes things are what they seem and people are who they seem to be. You are Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!”   Mr  Le Tissier later, and after some considerable criticism from Jewish groups, eventually deleted the post in question.  He apologized for the way it had been interpreted, but denied that he had directly been referring to the wearing of masks.  The Jewish Chronicle reported that Mr Le Tissier had in the past tweeted on the issue of vaccine and appeared to back the conspiracy view of the “anti-vaxxers”.  However, Mr Le Tissier has also said that some of his past points of view were inaccurate.
