LGBTQIA+ activist groups, who treasure the civil rights and liberties traditionally accorded action groups in the UK, have welcomed news that a group of environmental campaigners, including the well known Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, have been cleared of all charges that were brought by the authorities after a demonstration at a summit of government and fossil fuel executives. The Guardian reports that at the conclusion of the prosecution case on Friday 2nd February, the second day of their trial at Westminster magistrates court, Judge Laws agreed the crown had failed to present enough evidence to prove their case. Laws said conditions imposed on protesters were “so unclear that it is unlawful”, which meant “anyone failing to comply were actually committing no offence”.
