Stonewall, the LGBT+ lobbying organisation, reports that a powerful new video has been released by the Coalition to Ban Conversion Therapy. The new video, which can be seen online, shows the horror of this form of pseudo-psychological intervention, which is condemned by all reputable mental health organisations, and also by the majority of religious groups. Only a handful of highly fundamentalist and extreme groups still believe in its efficacy or desirability. Stonewall says: “LGBTQ+ people are not sick and we do not need to be ‘cured’. Yet 1.5 million LGBTQ+ people in England and Wales remain at risk of this abuse due to government inaction. Our campaign for a total conversion therapy ban must get louder. This suffering needs to end now. We must maintain pressure on UK Government”.
