Shock, but also resilience and incredible pride in the solidarity of our community. Those are the feelings that have come forward to summarise the LGBTQIA community's response to the stabbings of two customers at the popular gay venue the The Two Brewers in London's Clapham district on Sunday 13th August. One of the two men hospitalised after the attack, for which Metropolitan Police are still hunting for a perpetrator, said “I’ve not been left feeling sad, nor angry, or confused… I’ve just been left so many questions… to think what can lead to changing a person’s mind that much that they can feel it’s OK to attack anyone… whatever their reasons… and how we change that…” There has, according to top gay newswire Pink News, an outpouring of love and support on social media, proving the emotional resilience and social solidarity of the community. Detective Inspector Gary Castle said: “We are acutely aware of the shock this attack will cause members of the LGBT+ community and I want to reassure people that an urgent investigation is ongoing to locate the person responsible.” Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or tweet @MetCC and quote CAD 7198/13Aug.
