Gayety arts website meets with Alec White, a thirty year old Los Angeles based photographer who has worked with gay and bisexual men who enjoy cannabis as recreation or medicine to create a stunning new display of imagery. Initially, photography was a means to boost Alec's college resume, but it quickly evolved into a passion. Like many queer creatives, this passion was fueled by online communities of the Tumblr era — where fashion, celebrity, fandoms, and pornography were rampant. This eclectic mix of influences laid the foundation for his unique style, which blends elements of realism, surrealism, and sensuality. Alec immersed himself in his photography and the Seattle queer art scene. This period of exploration began to shape his artistic vision as it was in Seattle that Alec began his notable series "Naked Boys Smoking Weed," a project that started as a personal pastime but quickly became a way for him to connect with other queer "stoners" in his community. Alec's curious and contemplative nature shines through in his work, often featuring a cheeky and playful undertone. He describes his photographs as a way to romanticize his life and create a world where cross-sections in queer culture intersect and are celebrated.
