Co-op Aims to Be A Sanctuary from Hate

03/04/2024

A report on the High Street Co-op's in-store radio station Co-op Radio says that the chain aims to serve as a place of sanctuary for anyone experiencing street harassment, stalking or unwanted attention.  Distressed people are promised that staff at Co-operative stores will offer support and non-judgemental assistance, including calling the police and allowing someone to stay in the store until help arrives.  This initiative has the potential of assisting many people who may be the target of homophobic, racist, disablist, transphobic or misogynist hate.
