The BBC News Channel reports that the Body Shop, the chain of high street stores that were founded in 1976 by the late Dame Anita Roddick and which pioneered ethical trading, have gone into administration. Restructuring firm FRP, which has been appointed as the administrator, said it would now consider all options to find a way forward for the business. The Body Shop was a supporter of LGBTQIA rights and many stores flew rainbow flags during Pride Month. In addition, the stores support of animal welfare and fairly traded ingredients appealed to LGBT+ people, who many surveys have revealed, are more likely than heterosexual and cisgender people to care about the environment and ecological issues, including climate change, trade, international development and animal rights. The retailer's shops will remain open as usual while efforts are made to try to save the UK firm. Trade unions said that around two thousand jobs would be at risk if the Body Shop were to close down completely.
