Lesbian icon and entrepreneur Mary Portas is a keynote speaker at a conference this Autumn which will bring together hundreds of B Corporations. Certified B Corporations, or B Corps, are businesses that prioritise people and the planet alongside profit. They measure and improve their impact on their employees, customers, local communities and the environment and make a legal commitment to ensure this expanded duty of care is locked in for the future. Many LGBTQIA run businesses have joined the movement as they recognise the value of diversity, equality and planet care in their daily business lives. Called Louder than Words, the festival organisers say "This September, join us at the largest-ever gathering of B Corps to harness the power of people using business as a force for good. We’ll be bringing this growing community of 2,000 B Corps together, putting ideas into action and tackling the issues that matter. Let’s create the change we need right now, together.... Louder than Words will celebrate our differences and harness that commitment to action to create an event like no other, embracing creativity, connection and debate. Working alongside activists, allies, local communities, ‘B’ curious businesses and the B Corp community, it will be a space to challenge ourselves and each other to go further, faster. There is now a community of over 2,000 B Corps in the UK, with leaders from businesses of all shapes and sizes who know that business as usual doesn’t work for everyone. Louder Than Words will be the first time this extraordinary group is together in one city." The event web page is at https://festival.bcorporation.uk/ and the whole festival will be over 10th and 11th September, which is a Tuesday and Wednesday.
