“ShoutOut” and the wider family of community radio stations in Bristol would like to extend its commiseration to the team at youth culture community radio station SWU, which has recently announced that they will be closing down due to the economic situation. The station broadcast across the city on 103.7 FM, and included many LGBTQIA talented musicians and presenters in their output. Terry, who co-founded “ShoutOut”, wished the team at SWU the best for the future and added “There are around 400 community radio stations in the UK, all breaking down barriers and building community. Their work is going to be more valuable than ever in the struggle against climate change and the cost of living crisis. The Community Media Association is urging the regulatory authorities to relax some of the rules around community broadcasting to allow stations to survive and flourish during the economic crisis”.
