Data from the dating platform Feeld indicates a remarkable rise in users identifying as bisexual in New York City, a trend highlighted in a recent report. The findings, covered by LGBTQIA+ culture publication Them, underscore a broader movement towards more fluid expressions of gender and sexuality on the app.
Feeld's 'Raw 2025' recap, published in December, analysed user trends from the preceding year. It revealed that New York City witnessed a staggering 161% increase in users who identify as bisexual. The report broadly pointed to a growing number of Feeld members embracing fluid identities.
Commenting on the data, Dr. Luke Brunning, a lecturer in applied ethics at the University of Leeds and a relationships expert, said the figures reflect a deepening cultural understanding. "These changes speak to the growing awareness that sexuality is complex," he stated. "If anything, it would be surprising if people were never sexually curious about people of their own sex or gender, or if attraction worked in neat and predictable ways."
Dr. Brunning suggested New York's status as the nation's largest metropolis and a hub for social and artistic experimentation made it a natural epicentre for this shift. The report's findings align with earlier cultural forecasting, as trend analysts at Them had previously predicted a rising prominence of bisexuality in the broader culture ahead of 2025.
