An important by election takes place for the British Parliament on Thursday 18th June, for the constituency of Makerfield. Fourteen candidates are standing and although the broadcasting rules in the UK mean that we quite rightly cannot advocate anything other than using your vote if you are entitled, we can note that equalities organisations will be watching the election closely. This is because there are candidates with radically differential views on the future of the Human Rights Act 2010. Results of the election will come in during the small hours of Friday 19th June.
