As the whole of Europe prepares to celebrate the eightieth anniversary of the end of the Second World War, with the capitulation of all fascist forces involved in the Axis Nazi empire, known as the Third Reich, so local surrey based radio station Brooklands Radio will be marking the whole week with a special series of programmes. The station, which transmits on DAB radio to the Surrey area, will bring together listeners’ memories, themed shows and exclusive interviews to honour this moment in British history. In an exclusive interview, broadcaster Michael Aspel shares his own childhood memories of evacuation, with a personal look into life on the Home Front. The media website RCS Radio Today notes "Throughout the week, listeners will be encouraged to share their family memories of WWII. These stories will be featured across the station’s schedule, to create a community tribute to those who lived through the era. Programming will also include wartime music, archive audio, a look at the headlines from 8th May 1945, and special contributions from Brooklands Radio presenters across the week." https://www.brooklandsradio.co.uk/
