West London Queer Project (WLQP) is preparing to welcome residents and visitors alike to its most expansive celebration to date, as the organisation marks six years of supporting the LGBTQ+ community with a complimentary street festival in the centre of Chiswick.

The festivities are scheduled for Sunday, 30 August 2026, at Old Market Place in Chiswick (W4), running from midday until 9pm. Attendees can expect a packed programme featuring live acts, stalls run by community groups, activities suitable for the whole family, plus food and drink options – all put together to honour diversity, inclusivity and local togetherness.

Since its formation in 2020, WLQP has developed into one of the United Kingdom’s biggest LGBTQ+ organisations. The group currently counts over 5,000 members and stages upwards of 200 events annually. What began as a modest neighbourhood initiative has grown into a thriving network that enables queer people to come together through sport, wellbeing, cultural pursuits, social gatherings and campaigning.

More than 4,000 people attended last year’s edition of the Street Party, and organisers anticipate that number to rise still further in 2026.

"This celebration is our way of thanking the wonderful community that has stood by us for the past six years," said Aubrey Crawley, Founder and CEO of WLQP. "It presents an occasion to reflect on our joint achievements, the bonds we have formed and the many individuals whose lives have been enriched by our work. Whether you identify as LGBTQ+, identify as an ally, live nearby or are just passing through, you are warmly encouraged to join in the celebrations."

True to tradition, there will be no charge to enter the event, ensuring that financial circumstances never prevent participation. Those in a position to contribute will be offered the chance to make an optional donation that helps sustain the project’s activities throughout the year.

The birthday programme encompasses live music and performances, stalls from voluntary organisations and independent traders, catering outlets and family-oriented entertainment. As the day draws to a close, an official After Party will round off the festivities in the evening.

WLQP is also appealing to local enterprises, community bodies and volunteers to get involved in order to make this year’s event the biggest yet.

Admission is free. The West London Queer Project 6th Birthday Street Party takes place on Sunday 30 August 2026, with dedicated family and children’s activities from 12pm to 2pm, followed by the main event from 2pm to 9pm at Old Market Place, Chiswick, London W4.
