As we have reported before, the body size acceptance movement is deeply influenced by feminism, trans feminism and queer theory. Indeed, many of the body acceptance blogs see themselves as fully allied to the LGBTQIA movement, even whilst they critique elements of body chauvinism within the commercial scene.

Since the 1980s, the gay bear and gay chub movements have operated in gay male circles, providing friendship, sexual partners, love and community to many men who do not fit into twink or muscle categories. Now we are pleased to report on a major development on the commercial scene in London. Hot on the heels of the welcome news that Bear Magazine - the underground magazine for gay, bi and gay trans men into hairier, beefier men is relaunching this September, we also learn from QX, London's scene magazine, that "Honey Honey is the hot new bear night playing bold beats and proving big vibes. Now with more Pop and featuring hot new cruising spaces."

The exciting queer clubnight launches on Friday 14th August. The venue is the queer friendly venue Electrowerkz, at 7 Torrens Street. It's already famous for the range of LGBTQIA nightlife it hosts. Live DJs from the gay club and queer radio circuits will be playing tracks from artists like Britney, Slayyyyter and Madonna. During the hot summer night, the outside courtyard offers a space for flirting and catching up with mates. Honey Honey promoter and DJ Cactushead, told QX, “This is the city’s freshest new bear‑themed night out – buzzing with personality and packed with surprises. It’s playful, it’s vibrant, and it’s designed to get everyone excited for a standout night you won’t want to miss.”
