Stop Funding Hate, the lobby group that persuades advertisers to question advertising campaigns in hateful newspapers and on right wing TV networks, says that after lobbying, Britain's broadcast regulator is no longer letting the transgender critical station GB News get away with biased reportage any longer. A spokesperson for Stop Funding Hate reported: "Following months of pressure, Ofcom has finally opened an investigation into GB News over a notoriously one-sided interview with Donald Trump in November.

This comes after Stop Funding Hate submitted a detailed complaint, and after more than 1,000 of us wrote to our MPs, urging them to help fix Ofcom. Britain’s dysfunctional broadcasting regulator has repeatedly refused to uphold its rules in recent years, and has seemed especially reluctant to investigate or sanction GB News. With a new Ofcom chair now in place, today’s news - that the media regulator is investigating GB News - may be a sign that things could at last be starting to go in a better direction.

However, it’s also clear that there’s still a lot of work to do before Britain has a broadcasting regulator that is fit for purpose, so it’s vital that we keep up the pressure.
