Breast Cancer Screening Unit Opens in Buckinghamshire

Bucks Radio, an independent radio service in Buckinghamshire, reports that a major new Breast Cancer Screening Unit has opened in Princes Risborough. Breast Cancer can affect all members of the LGBTQIA Communities that have breast tissue, including men, gay men, trans men, trans women and people assigned female at birth. The unit, according to the reporter for Bucks Radio, is designed to allow patients in South Bucks - including those in Princes Risborough, Stokenchurch, Prestwood, Chesham, and Amersham - to attend screening appointments closer to home, without travelling to hospital. It was installed at a cost of £410,000 which brought together local media, politicians and members of the public. The campaign was also publicly backed by Lorraine Kelly, the ITV-1 television hostess. Ms Kelly told reporters that she supported the initiative "because regular breast screening saves lives" and that she hopes "that the convenience of being able to attend an appointment close to home will encourage those invited for a free NHS mammogram to take full advantage of it.”
