The Peter Tatchell Foundation has issued a final urgent call for donations to meet its Christmas appeal target, stating it has just hours to raise over three thousand pounds to support imperilled LGBT+ people in Uganda.
The charity revealed it must secure the remaining £3,237 before midnight to fund the work of Dauglas Nyakairu, a regional human rights advocate who provides critical support to young LGBT+ Ugandans. According to the foundation, Nyakairu offers safety, comfort and hope to individuals living under severe threat.
His work focuses on assisting those fleeing mob violence, familial rejection, homelessness, and the dire risks of arrest or execution under Uganda's harsh anti-LGBT+ laws. The foundation described his efforts as "brave, vital and life-saving," noting he "risks everything" to provide this protection.
The Peter Tatchell Foundation, which partners with frontline activists across the world, is seeking public donations to help close the funding gap for this crucial campaign. Those wishing to contribute or learn more about the foundation's work with regional advocates can visit its official website.
