Broadcasters Join In for Pride Season, in spite of Some Corporate

Corporate brands may be coming under pressure to relinquish their support of Pride, from right wing and reactionary anti-gay groups, but away from the hate filled cesspit of the internet, many media are still supporting Pride Month. In the UK, Channel Four Television has been promoting its back catalogue of LGBTQIA programming, inviting people to stream them through its online services. On Wednesday, Channel Four News, which is produced by Independent Television News for the network, reported that the Labour government is at last to proceed with the much asked for bill to outlaw conversion therapies. ITV Evening News on the ITV Network also reported on this, and although there was a brief talking head from the bigoted Christian Institute, the article showcased anti-violence project GALOP and its new report into the coercive, and cruel anti-gay activities of fringe churches in the UK.

The SKY Network of television channels has been running promos emphasising its LGBTQIA employee base and rendering its logo in rainbow colours for the season.

On the radio, Greatest Hits Radio, BBC Radio 1 and Heart Radio networks are among those that have transmitted specially themed programmes or inserts to mark June as Pride Month. Hits Radio have relaunched for 2026 their pop up LGBT radio service, Hits Radio Pride which is online and also available in parts of the UK on digital DAB+ radio. In Bristol, other networks to turn on signals on the DAB radio band include LGBTQIA popular networks such as KISS Dance.
