Gay actor Stifyn Parri presented a programme on the Welsh language channel S4C (Sianel Pedwar Cymru) on Friday night last week. Called "Dim yn Dweud Hoyw" (meaning "Don't Say Gay"), the documentary saw Stifyn investigate the timeline and legacy of the hated Section 28 in Wales. Section 28 in England and Wales, and Section 2A in Scotland, attempted to stop local authorities from anything that could be construed as "promoting" homosexuality or non conformist identities, although it is worth noting that not one prosecution was ever brought. Nevertheless as Stifyn explored on the documentary, its effect on funding streams for LGBT organisations and education was chilling.
Stifyn brought the documentary up to date by looking at contemporary education through the medium of Welsh and how young people interact in a digital age.
Stifyn Parri is a well known Welsh actor. He played the love interest to Gordon in Brookside, the 1980s soap opera on Channel Four and S4C in 1986, being one of the first seriously represented gay men on television.
