QX, the London scene magazine, reports that with the Notting Hill Carnival weekend approaching, so black gay bi and trans men are working towards a weekend of celebrations, club nights and social events that will centre the African-Caribbean gay experience and also bring to clubbers a showcase of the festival sounds that play out on London's many FM black music pirate radio stations.
The organisers have released a press release for their weekend, called BlackMeatMarket, in a bold provocative flourish. They say "BMM Carnival Weekend 2026 is a five-day experience built for Black gay, bi and DL men, grounded in Black culture and rooted in the Caribbean energy that defines Carnival. We’ve built this from the ground up and grown it into one of the core spaces for Black queer men during Carnival weekend: not on the outside of it but right at the centre. The weekend brings together BMM’s signature experiences alongside carefully selected collaborations with international brands, collectives and creators, offering everything from daytime socials and club nights to intimate and erotic experiences. Each event has its own identity while contributing to one connected weekend programme. These spaces are designed for connection, expression and release without compromise. Whether you’re coming to socialise, dance, explore or simply be around people who understand the space, every experience is created with intention and authenticity. This weekend is built for those who know exactly what they want. If you’ve been before, you already know what’s waiting. If you haven’t, this is the weekend everyone will be talking about once Carnival is over."
