During the debate on ending anti-queer pseudoscientific "conversion therapies", we have sometimes seen the issue presented as one between the LGBTQIA Community and the religious. However, it is only extreme religious groups and reactionary fundamentalists like the "Christian Institute" that want to keep their right to abuse and insult non-heterosexual and non-cisgender people. The majority of religious people are against subjecting their LGBTQIA neighbours and friends to abuse, coercion and control that has been so well documented by the anti-violence charity GALOP, under the term "conversion".

Now, religious groups which minister to LGBTQIA people of a variety of faiths, are coming together to lobby government and discuss conversion therapy abuses. In a press release, the organisers explain "ENDING CONVERSATION THERAPY NOW - LGBT+ Catholics Westminster Pastoral Council are organising a LGBT+ Faith groups gathering on Saturday 19th Sep 2026 from 13:30 at St. Joseph's Hall, 15 Lamb's Passage, London EC1Y 8LE. Professor Jim McManus - National Director Health and Wellbeing, Public Health Wales, Saba Ali FRSA - Chair, Ban Conversion Practices Coalition, and Nicolete Burbach - London Jesuit Centre, will hold a conversation on Ending Conversion Therapy, followed by a Q & A session, ending 15.30."
