Right Wing Talk Channel Loses Staggering Amount of Cash

Britain's largest right of centre talk channel, GB News, has lost another staggering amount of money for its powerful millionaire shareholders. That's according to a report this week on "Stop Funding Hate", which campaigns for advertisers to see the implications of what networks the advertise with. Richard & the Stop Funding Hate team said "The latest GB News’ accounts are out, and they lost a staggering £22 million during the last financial year. This brings the toxic channel’s total losses to more than £130 million since 2021. Over the past 12 months, thousands of #StopFundingHate supporters have taken action to urge advertisers to steer clear of GB News. Thanks to those efforts, only very few high-profile brands are still appearing there. However, with Ofcom refusing to act, it’s vital that we keep up the pressure".

Stop Funding Hate believe that OFCOM, the communications regulator in the UK, is afraid of taking on GB News for its breaches of impartiality law because they fear a backlash from right wing extremists online. Instead, so the narrative goes, they have been pursuing "easy prey" such as Belfast's Juice FM, which they criticise for not serving the LGBTQIA community adequately, or on raids on London's reggae pirates.

Either way, Stop Funding Hate invites members of the LGBTQIA community to join with its wider campaigns against the right wing network and other hate broadcasters.
