We are always pleased to report when other LGBTQIA+ media services have initiatives going on. We are not in competition with each other but rather, as happened after the murder of Brianna Ghey, we come together for the benefit of the wider queer community. That's why we are pleased to report on several initiatives in community radio.
Gaydio, which transmits on many local DAB services as well as FM In Brighton and Manchester, will broadcast a special programme hosted by celebrity TV personality David Potts on Bank Holiday Monday, 4th May. David revealed: “I literally live for a Bank Holiday weekend! So getting to soundtrack one on Gaydio is just unreal.
“I’ll be bringing nothing but big gay bangers, from Lady Gaga to Britney Spears, plus iconic tracks from Cher, Rihanna and loads more. Whether you’re still going to be in party mode or trying to give yourself some energy for the first day back, I’ve got you covered. It’s going to be such a laugh!”
Meanwhile, North East based LGBT+ station Glitterbeam will be holding a thirty hour radiothon between 11am on Saturday 27th June and 7pm on Sunday 28th June. Last year their charity radiothon raised over five thousand pounds for various charities. The weekend will feature live studio performances, interviews with guests from entertainment and community sectors, and a live on-air murder mystery involving Murder Actually.
