Gay Hero Presenter Rob Rinder Joins Archaeological Show on UK TV.

Gay television host Rob Rinder has been exploring the lives of rich and poor people throughout history on Tuesday nights, for Channel 5 Television in the UK. Rich Lives Poor Lives which also features historian Ruth Goodman, is a three part series made by Lion Productions for the channel and each episode is a ninety minute exploration in to the lives of people who actually lived and have been painstakingly reconstructed from documentary evidence and from archaeological sources. As the title suggests, the programme contrasts the experiences of the wealthy, the middle classes, and the urban and rural poor in each period visited.

Interestingly, on the episodes looking at Roman Emperor Hadrian and his visit to the British provinces in 122 CE, Rinder spoke of his male lovers although sadly, this queer history was not featured elsewhere in the fascinating programme.
