Environmental group Greenpeace addresses the lack of democracy or human rights under Donald Trump's Presidency and calls on UK Prime Minister Karl Starmer to show backbone in dealing with the American state. In a press release, Greenpeace say "Masked men shooting peaceful protestors, unchecked environmental destruction and conflicts over oil and land. This is what happens when billionaire-backed bullies like Trump are given free rein. 

As we watch this unfold, it’s easy to feel paralysed and wonder if anything we do makes a difference. But there is hope.

The resistance to Trump is stronger than ever and clocking the mood change, Keir Starmer has started to speak up. But we need him to be bolder. It’s time that he picked a side: billionaire-backed bullies or people and planet. 

Standing up to Trump means more than just a statement. It means doubling down on everything he is against. 

Trump is shutting down peaceful protests with violence, tearing up international laws, making his Big Oil backers even richer and threatening to scrap the rules that keep our food safe.  

Starmer must choose a different path for the UK by protecting our right to peaceful protest, championing global cooperation, getting us off dangerous fossil fuels and upholding our food standards in any future trade deals.
