Casting a Sharp Light on Threats to Democracy

25/04/2022

Hope Not Hate, a network bringing together academics, activists and democrats to monitor and cast light on the activities of the hard right wing in all its forms, has published its State of Hate report.  A full colour, free to download analysis of the far right in Britain, the document is essential reading for anyone who cares about democracy, racism and defending all minorities from attack.  The report considers phenomena as diverse as “deep conspiracy theories”, the anti-Vaxx fringe, dissatisfaction with democratic institutions, techno-fascism and populist talk shows, right the way through to more traditional neo-fascist and neo-Nazi organisations such as the British Movement and Combat 18.  The links between these groups, their manipulation of the internet, their hijacking of centre right populists and their undermining of democracy by legal and extra-legal means are all examined in full.  Understanding the breadth of hate is essential in countering it, and Hope Not Hate’s report is an important part of this.  You can download a copy for free at hopenothate.org.uk
