Glastonbury based Pagan Bookstore to Close

The oldest pagan bookstore in the west country spiritual town of Glastonbury, an area served by the local community radio station Glastonbury FM on 107.1 FM, is to call it a day in January.

Tyna Redpath Owner of the The Goddess and the Green Man, wrote of her progressive and LGBTQIA friendly bookstore, "After thirty-four years of trading (I am now 76!), it is time to end this chapter of my life and close our business.

The Goddess and the Green Man will remain open until January 31st and will close on February 1st at Imbolc 2026. With sadness, our mail order service is no longer available.

The idea for the shop, and indeed its name, was conjured spontaneously and grounded in a partnership with Phillipa Bowers whose stunning iconic Goddess sculptures remain in her fabulous gallery on Glastonbury high street.

After two years I went ‘solo’. A promise was kept, and I was granted a lease on 17 High Street. 1991 was an extraordinarily creative time in Glastonbury, when seemingly random ideas were grounded into realities. I decided the shop ‘should / would and must’ be rooted in the Wheel of the Year. My business needed to be grounded in my spirituality. The same impulse was germinating in creative community-based ways all over the town.

We are proud to be the oldest pagan shop on Glastonbury High Street. Over the years this incredible town where we live (a place like no other!) has evolved to dance an annual wheel of celebrations in unity with other faith groups. I am so proud to have contributed to this.

We have always been rooted in community and committed to offering the very best service we can to our wonderful customers over the years. We will continue to offer this service until we close our doors!

Thank you so much for your support which we have always treasured."

The Goddess and the Green Man will be sorely missed by LGBTQIA+ pagans, followers of nature religion, and folklorists alike. People wishing to send a message to the shop and wish the owner the best for the future, can do so via the website. https://www.goddessandgreenman.co.uk/
