The United States veteran LGBTQIA+ publication, The Advocate, published weekly since 1967, and chronicler of the vicissitudes of the LGBTQIA+ communities worldwide, has explained why independent, fearless and economically stable queer publications and journalism is vital for the health of our communities, and of the democracies in which LGBTQIA+ people can flourish. In a press release, the Advocate says "Over the past 12 months, The Advocate has worked tirelessly to document every anti-LGBTQ+ policy shift, every harmful statement, and every federal action that threatens our community. We do this not for clicks or viral shares. We do this because the truth matters. When an ICE agent shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, a queer mother of three, rather than adopt the Trump administration’s initial narrative — which labeled her a “domestic terrorist” and sought to justify the killing — our reporting centered on Renee’s life, her identity, and the facts on the ground. We stood with her loved ones, and we resisted attempts by far-right groups to discredit her and erase her queer identity."
Well said, Advocate. The publication is seeking donations so that the magazine can continue to report queer lives and interests. If you can spare some, then please look for the donations page at https://www.advocate.com/
