Amanda Barrie at Ninety - As they Say in Cricket "Ninety Not Out!"

Bisexual actress Amanda Barrie appeared in the pages of the nostalgia magazine Best of British this month to promote her second work of memoirs, entitled "I'm Still Here". At ninety one years of age, Ms Barrie can look back at a stellar career on stage, in film and on television. She starred as the scantily clad Cleopatra in the British comedy classic Carry On Cleo in 1964, but she is best remembered as her portrayal of Alma Sedgewick in the long standing UK soap opera Coronation Street, over a twenty year period before her character was killed off in 2001 in a moving storyline. Ms Barrie has continued to act, in such series as the gay favourite Bad Girls. She came out as bisexual in her first autobiography It's Not a Rehearsal. On 12th September 2014, she married her long-term partner Hillary Bonner, who writes crime novels and helped expose the scandal of unexplained deaths of army recruits at a barracks called Deepcut. The Times newspaper described Bonner as 'keeping on the public agenda the stories our masters would prefer buried.'
