The Autumn edition of independent Bristol based magazine B247 says that "over the past few months the queer ballroom scene in Bristol has exploded. From hosting a packed out tent at Bristol Pride to their monthly practice balls, the ballroom dance floor is creating a space that prioritises and celebrates queer people of colour". The article, spread over two full colour pages of the magazine, goes on to meet practitioners in the ballroom group called Fruitea based in Stokes Croft. Says member Aysha "Ballroom is always a protest, we'll carry on performing because it's not just about fashion, it's not just a hobby, it's a space built for queer people of colour". FRUITEA occures on the last Wednesday of every month at the Attic Bar on Stokes Croft. For further information, visit @bristolballroomcommunity on instagram.
