Pagan LGBT folks are celebrating the festival of Beltane, the height of Spring. The Glastonbury based pagan bookstore "The Goddess and the Green Man" puts it like this "Beltane honours Life. It represents the peak of Spring and the beginning of Summer. Earth energies are at their strongest and most active. All of life is bursting with potent fertility and at this point in the Wheel of the Year, the potential becomes conception. On May Eve the sexuality of life and the earth is at its peak. Abundant fertility, on all levels, is the central theme". Many English, Welsh, Scottish and Irish folk festivals such as Maypole dancing have symbolism that many historians believe date from pagan times. This week, the progressive newspaper the Guardian published an article exploring modern paganism, and spoke to Jack Hudson from Asatru UK, a pagan path, who referred to the large number of LGBTQ+ people who identify as pagan in their spiritual practices. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/apr/27/dawn-of-the-new-pagans-eve...
"ShoutOut" sends its Beltane Greetings to LGBTQIA Pagans and their friends and hopes that this special time of year brings you much joy.
