The radical left group RS21 says that it will hold its first conference this summer. In a press release, they say "On Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd June, rs21 is holding our first ever weekend festival – Festival of the Oppressed. And we’re excited to be able to share the full programme.
We’ll be hosting more than 20 workshops over two days on topics ranging from disability justice and grassroots trade unionism through to trans liberation and solidarity with Palestine.
Over the weekend, we’ll come together to discuss how we can develop revolutionary politics, build solidarity across movements, and free ourselves from all forms of oppression.
The programme features collab sessions with BLM UK, Troublemakers at Work, Red Medicine, Haymarket, and Books Against Borders, and speakers including Barnaby Raine, Joshua Virasami, Tithi Bhattacharya and Shanice Octavia McBean.
There’ll also be a chance to take part in kite-making, singing and storytelling workshops, a radical history walk and more. This will be an intergenerational stream of activities - bring your kids! Recommended age ranges will be announced soon, but we will also have childcare from Nanny Solidarity Network in another room throughout the weekend. Please book your tickets ASAP and let us know if you will be bringing kids.
And make sure to come through to our Saturday night afterparty!
Tickets are priced on a sliding scale of £10-£60. Please email rs21organiser@gmail.com if cost is a barrier to attending, if you need support with childcare or accommodation, have accessibility requirements, or want further information."
