LGBTQIA+ culture magazine Instinct reports that the classic single by gay philanthropist and musician George Michael - namely "Last Christmas" by his duo Wham!, has once again toppled records. It came top of the British charts at Christmas 2022, thirty eight years after its first release in 1984. And now, it's climbed to the top of the Billboard Global 200 for the first time ever. Andrew Ridgeley, George's co-singer in Wham!, said "I’m delighted to learn that Wham!’s perennial Christmas favorite has secured the Billboard spot this week".
